1 What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites send to the user's browser and that are stored on the device (computer, smartphone, tablet). On the next visit, the browser sends these files back to the site that created them, allowing it to recognise the user and remember their preferences.

Besides classic cookies, there are similar technologies such as localStorage, sessionStorage and tracking pixels, which this policy fully covers pursuant to Art. 122 of the Italian Privacy Code.

Cookies can be:

2 Cookie categories used

Seguendo la classificazione del Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali e le EDPB Guidelines 5/2019, cookies are divided into the following categories:

๐Ÿ”’ Strictly necessary cookies Always active

Essential for the website to function. No consent required under Art. 122(1) of the Italian Privacy Code.

๐Ÿ“Š Analytics cookies Consent required

They collect information about site usage in aggregated, anonymous form to improve user experience.

โš™๏ธ Functional cookies Consent required

They store user preferences (e.g. active filters, navigation preferences) to improve return visits.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Marketing cookies Consent required

Used to show personalised advertising. Currently not in use. This policy will be updated if they are introduced.

3 Detailed cookie list

๐Ÿ”’ Strictly necessary cookies

๐Ÿ“Š Analytics cookies (with consent only)

โš ๏ธ The site currently does not use third-party analytics cookies. Should they be introduced (e.g. Google Analytics), this section will be updated with the exact name of each cookie, its duration and a link to the provider's privacy notice.

โš™๏ธ Functional cookies (with consent only)

๐Ÿ“ฃ Marketing cookies (with consent only)

โš ๏ธ The site currently does not use marketing or profiling cookies. This section will be updated if they are introduced.

4 Third-party cookies

ChipGen does not currently use any third-party cookies. The site does not embed scripts from Google, Meta, X (Twitter), LinkedIn or other external providers that could set cookies on the user's device.

The site is hosted on Hostinger, which may set technical infrastructure cookies (e.g. load balancing). For information about Hostinger's cookies, see their Privacy Policy.

Should third-party services be integrated in the future, the full list with links to their privacy notices will be published in this section before the related cookies are activated.

5 localStorage and sessionStorage

Besides traditional cookies, this site uses the browser's localStorage โ€” a local storage space on the device that does not expire automatically when the browser is closed, unlike sessionStorage, and is not sent to the server with each request.

Why localStorage instead of cookies?
localStorage is better suited to storing client-side preferences (such as cookie consent and navigation filters) because it generates no additional network traffic. Data remains exclusively on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

You can view and delete localStorage data by opening your browser's Developer Tools (F12 โ†’ Application โ†’ Archiviazione locale).

6 How to manage or disable cookies

You can control cookies directly from your browser. Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies may impair the site's functionality.

Your consent is stored for 12 months, after which the banner reappears to request it again, in line with the Italian DPA (Garante) Guidelines.

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the "๐Ÿช Manage cookies" button in the bottom-left corner of every page of the site. Withdrawal takes effect immediately but is not retroactive.

Note: refusing or withdrawing consent to non-essential cookies does not affect your ability to browse the site. Some optional features (e.g. saved filters) may however be unavailable.

8 Updates

This Cookie Policy is updated whenever new cookies are introduced, existing cookies are removed or their purposes change. The date of the latest update is shown at the top of the page.

In the event of substantial changes affecting cookies that require consent, the consent banner will be shown again to all users.
